About Swan Veterinary Practice

Established in 1993, Swan Veterinary Practice is a small independent practice with the health and welfare of all of our patients at the center of our business. We pride ourselves in being able to offer excellent veterinary treatment at an affordable cost. Our Main practice is at DYCE where appointments can be made and routine, major and minor surgical procedures are performed. This is also where all patients come for x-rays and scans. Holburn street is open for all appointments and minor surgical procedures.

Our friendly team can help with all your animals needs. Advice, Health Checks and a wide range of treatment is available within our opening hours.

All out of hours services are provided by our on call partners, Vets Now at their Hospital facility in Kingswells. There are also times when we refer patients to specialist vets either close to Aberdeen or further afield. This is suggested on an individual case basis.

Amazing service from Swan Veterinary Practice, Trish, Wally and their team stayed open to help out our friends cat who was injured and had a nasty abscess. Very last minute call and an exceptionally quick, professional and friendly service. Thank you so much Team Swan.

Amazing people always put the animals first and don't try to rip you off and their expertise is 2nd to none. Dexter has been there since day one and would go else were.

Our reception staff are the heart of the practice. They are the first point of contact and know our clients and their pets well and are the communication link between owners and our Vets and Nurses. On top of their expertise in all aspects of reception they are either qualified Veterinary Care Assistants or have an HNC in Animal Care. Our Holburn Team work at Dyce on a Saturday so you may see them there as well.

Anne

Anne Napier (HND Animal care)

Anne is the longest serving member of the team and is a very familiar face at our Holburn branch. Anne knows our clients and their pets well and on top of all the main reception duties she will help with the surgical procedures undertaken at Holburn street. She helps with consults, tends to inpatients and will admit and discharge those needing to come in for the day.

Michelle Hubbard ( Receptionist)

Michelle joined the practice in October 2024 as receptionist and is based at Holburn Street. Known as 'Shell' she has quickly become an integral part of the practice, busy with the phones, making appointments, dispensing medication and generally creating that vital link between our clients and the Veterinary Team.
As well as her experience as a veterinary receptionist Shell has a Certificate in Animal Studies from Australia - in case folk were wondering where the accent comes from!
Shell works part time and is also seen at Dyce on some Saturdays. She loves the variety that working at a busy practice can bring and is always happy to help the ever growing number of clients that we have at the Practice.

Emma

Emma Tennant (VCA)

There is not much that goes on in the practice that Emma does not know about! She has an incredible memory for owners and their pets helping them with appointments, repeat medications and communicating advice to them from the veterinary team. Emma is our practice expert on the Pet Health Plan and helps our Dyce Clients with their insurance claims. As part of her role, Emma can also be seen helping during consults and will run bloods and care for our inpatients needs.

Wendy Carle (Receptionist)

Wendy first joined the practice in 1994 and was in fact our very first member of staff to be recruited.  She has had a long time away where she has worked in veterinary practice and other local businesses carrying out reception and admin duties. It is great to have Wendy back as part of the team. She works mainly at reception and will answer your calls, speaking to the veterinary team as required in order to help you and your pets in the best way she can. Wendy also prepares flea, tick and worm treatment and other medication for collection. Helping with orders and providing information around practice policy for neutering and vaccination is a key part of her role. When Wendy is not behind reception she will be preparing lab samples or helping with inpatient monitoring.

Shannon

Shannon Russell ( VCA / Receptionist)

Shannon came to the Practice as a new VCA in April 2024. She had completed her studies at SRUC and through a year's placement as she studied.
Shannon works at Holburn Street on a Tuesday but she is mainly seen at Dyce.
As well as answering the phone, making appointments, dispensing medication she also helps during consults, holding animals for examination or sample taking. Her duties also include patient monitoring and assisting in preparation and recovery of our surgical and medical inpatients.
Shannon loves the outdoors, especially sharing it with her labrador Harley and also loves going to the gym.
